to see samples of their work. Ask
for contact info for at least three clients of
these sites. Contact these customers. Were
they happy working with this person or company? Did
they get the product they were promised? Was
it delivered on time?
How
stable does the enterprise appear to be? Are
they just getting started? Might they move or
take a full-time job that would limit the time
they have to spend on your project?
Call
the design company. Were they there to
answer your questions? Did they get back
to you in a reasonable time frame?
If
they're local, that's a plus - but not a necessity.
One of our first clients is hundreds
of miles away. To this day, we haven't
met them but we have a solid working relationship.
If
they've passed the test this far, arrange an
in-person or telephone interview. If you
feel comfortable, the next step is the contract..
